| Advanced Crane Rope Inspections - LMI
We start at where rope made its first appearance around 17000 BC in the form of "hemp" and cover the history of the steel wire rope methodically working our way through the Iron Age to discussing the first wire ropes being installed in the "deep" level mining industry in Germany back in the early 1800's.
The infamous "non-spin" ropes are explained and the very tricky abrasion resistance versus fatigue resistance is practically explained in the class discussion session. Rotational, semi non-rotational and fully non-rotational ropes will be in the order of the day.
We explain the details between the Seale and Warrington's construction designs and after elaborating on the well-known "D/d Ratio" your LMI should at this stage feel pretty uncomfortable when using the word "cable" in the class. |
